Compass 06A & box which fell from JL710
The rubber stamp mark
indicating it was checked at the Admiralty compass observatory on
30th September 1942 may be seen in the lid of the box.
I'm sorry I didn't put a coin into the photo as a size reference however
the box is 5.25 x 5.5 x 10.6 inches (133 x 137 x 270 mm) with the
lid closed. The compass is approximately 9.5 inches (240 mm)
from the top of the prism to the bottom of the torch which takes two
'C' (LR14) type cells. The switch which can also be used to send Morse
code can be seen on the left.
The compass diameter is approximately 3.8 inches (97 mm).
