81) Continuing uphill we come to Ned McKiernan's house. Ned and Theresa reared a great family here, Mary, Corrasmongan; Anne, Sligo; Teresa, Cork; Margaret, Teemore; Frances, London; Fiona, Dublin; and Edward, Pat and Peter, Kilsob. The previous family were the children of Peter McKiernan and Margaret Logan. They were Nancy, Jamesy, Ned, Joey, Faffy and Pato. In the 1850s-70s Edward McKiernan and Anne McManus had a very large family on the same site - Cornelius, Patrick, Francis, Thomas, Catherine, Peter, Bernard, Hugh, Phil, Edward, Anne and Joseph.

82) We return to Kilsob Lane and turn left to Seán McGovern's house, now vacant. Towards the end of the last century John McGovern and his wife Kate, newly married had a son Patrick. Kate died soon afterwards and early in the new century John married Margaret. Children born of this second marriage were Roseanne, Maria, Thomas and Bridget. Tom McGovern became owner of the place and married Rose Burke in the 1940s. Their children were Moira, Straffan; Madeleine, U.S.A.; Eithne (RIP), Seán, Bawnboy, T.J. and Brendan, Navan.

83) Next on the Lane was the home of a Maguire family already mentioned in connection with Bawnboy old school and Kate Lunney, teacher. Pee Lunney and his wife who lived here would be remembered by the older generation in our area.
