In 1957 a multiple cist cairn was discovered during excavation adjacent to Jim McGoldrick’s house. It contained ten burials, each containing a skeleton. Professor Brendan Ó Ríordáin who investigated the find, discovered pieces of pottery, scrapers, stone axe-heads, flint and animal bones. He dated the find to the late Bronze or early Iron Age.
